The home of arguably the most well-known of all the lightning aircraft ever built, XN728. Or as most people know her, the 'A1 Lightning' formerly at Balderton, Newark.
L.P.G. (Lightning Preservation Group)
Group of enthusiasts based at Bruntingthorpe airfield. Home of 2 live aircraft XR728, XS904 and one complete static airframe XR713.
XS420 Lightning T.5
With the retirement of the Lightning in April 1988 many aircraft found their way into preservation, one of them being T.5 XS420. The purpose of this website is to document the history and subsequent preservation of XS420 and many other aspects of the Lightning in general.
AALO Club
AALO was founded in 1997 by Andrew Brodie, Jon Roth, Phil Wallis, and Max Waldron. Their aim was to return an English Electric Lightning T5 XS422 back to flight in America. In September 2023, AALO acquired XS452 (formerly c/r ZU - BBD) along with the entire Lightning spares inventory at Cape Town from Hangar 51 PTY Ltd. At the same time, AALO decided to exit the USA and is no longer involved in the restoration project of XS422.
